RTP/TCP Pipe Production Line

Our RTP/TCP pipe production line can produce pipe sizes ranging from Ø50-630mm.

The RTP (reinforced thermoplastic pipe)/TCP (thermoplastic composite pipe) is mainly used as high-pressure and non-metallic pipes for the oil and gas industries. However, it can also be used for water supply and district heating.

By changing the inner layer material, the RTP/TCP pipe can work under different temperatures and circumstances. Also, by changing the number of reinforced machines and reinforced materials, RTP/TCP will have different working pressures.

Machine Main Features


1. This is another piece of equipment independently developed by our company for 10 years.

2. The production line is mainly composed of core pipe extrusion and outer layer extrusion systems, tape winding machines, forming and cooling systems, and control systems.

3. The key technology is a tape-winding machine with four winding stations (can also use two of them). According to different types of reinforced tape and different pipeline pressure requirements, we will equip different quantities of winding machines.

4. The reinforced tape can be in different materials, such as glass fiber tape, aramid tape, steel wire tape, etc.              

5. Adopt an automatic spiral winding process, and evenly wrap the pipe with reinforced tape through the winding machines.

6. The rotation speed of the wincing machine can be automatically adjusted according to the production line speed to ensure that the winding angle meets the requirements.

7. The full PLC control allows the production line to have a high level of automation and winding efficiency.

Equipment Detail

Single Screw Extruder

Usually, there are two extruders:  one for the liner layer, and one for the coverage layer. Based on pipe structures, we will choose different quantities of extruders (for example, additional extruders for the glue layer). According to different materials, we will choose different screws and barrels.

Liner Layer Die Head

This die head is used to extrude the liner layer. It can be in a single layer or multilayer according to the pipe structure. Also, its flow channel may change according to different materials.

Vacuum Tank

Vacuum tank is used to shape and cool liner layer to form core pipe. We use double-chamber structure. The first chamber is in short length, to ensure very strong cooling and vacuum function. As calibrator is placed in the front of the first chamber and the pipe shape is formed mainly by the calibrator, this design can ensure quick and better forming and cooling of the core pipe.

Haul-off Unit

The haul-off unit provides sufficient traction force to pull pipe stably. When forming core pipe, need to have one haul-off unit. After wrapping the reinforced layer and covering the outer layer to form an RTP/TCP pipe, need to have another haul-off unit. Two haul-off units should have the same speed.

UD Tape Wrapping Machine

This machine is used to wrapping UD tapes on the liner core pipe. Usually, adopt double-numbered winding machines to ensure that the tapes are cross-distributed. The UD tapes can be in different materials such as fiberglass tape, aramid tape, corbon fiber tape, basalt tape, etc. According to different types of UD tapes and different pipe pressure requirements, number of UD tape wrapping machine will change.

Coverage Layer Die Head

This die head is used to extruder coverage layer. It can be in single layer or multilayer according to the pipe structure. Also, its flow channel may change according to different material. Special design which will make coverage layer attach more tightly on the reinforcement layer.

Cooling Tank

Cooling tank will cool the coverage layer to form whole RTP pipe.

Cutter

The cutter is controlled by Siemens PLC, and works together with the haul-off unit to have precise cutting. Customers can set the length of pipe they want to cut. Multi-feed-in actions for the accomplishment of one cutting process (protect blades and saws, prevent blade and saws from stuck in a thick pipe, and cut face of pipe smooth).

Coiler

According to different types of UD tape used for RTP/TCP pipe, we will customize our coiler to make sure the fiber material inside tape will not be damaged during coiling process. As RTP/TCP pipe normally will be coiled in long length (to save transporation and installation cost), we will make coiler in large diameter.
