1. PE pipe has low mechanical strength and is easily damaged by man-made.

PE pipe is not as hard as steel pipe, so it is easy to be perforated when impacted by hard objects. In order to protect PE pipeline from man-made damage, when laying PE pipeline, red brick and warning belt are usually added above PE pipeline, and then pipeline inspection is strengthened. When the gas PE pipe is constructed in advance or buried in a shallow depth, the gas PE pipe is easy to be cut through during the construction of other supporting pipe networks or roads in the community, resulting in gas leakage. In order to avoid similar incidents, the constructed gas PE should be monitored or constructed behind other supporting pipe networks, and sufficient buried depth should be ensured.

 

2. PE pipe is sensitive to thermal stability

The compressive strength of PE pipe will decrease at higher temperature. If the temperature is too low, it will become brittle. Therefore, at present, the pressure of PE pipe is generally 0.1 ~ 0.4 MPa. Because PE pipes are easy to oxidize, bend and sensitive to temperature, there are certain requirements for the storage, handling, transportation, storage period and construction of pipes. There are many construction equipment for PE pipe, which is highly dependent on construction equipment; There is a high requirement for the external environment, and it is inconvenient to construct in cold weather and windy and rainy environment, so protective measures must be taken.

 

3. PE pipe has no conductivity

This brings great inconvenience to the detection and positioning of PE pipeline. In view of this, it is necessary to strictly review the completion data in the project and make sure that the drawings are consistent with the actual ones; After the pipeline is put into operation, if the buildings near the pipeline change, the original as-built drawings should be updated in time to ensure that the exact information of underground natural gas pipeline can be grasped in time, thus laying a good foundation for the operation and management of the pipeline.

 

4. Matching problems of PE pipe fittings

Due to the limitation of chemical properties of PE pipe, it can't be used on the ground (it can't be used as open pipe), and PE well is bulky, which makes it inconvenient to construct in the matching of residential pipe network. PE pipe fittings are expensive.
