Precautions for Winter Construction of PVC, PE and PPR Pipes

Since entering November, as the temperature has dropped, the northern region has gradually entered the winter. Winter is a period during which construction complaints are caused by improper operation. Special precautions for construction precautions and delivery protection are as follows:

PVC pipe construction precautions:

1. When using the glue, insert the inner wall of the pipe socket and the outer wall of the pipe into the part, wipe it with a dry cloth, apply a proper amount of glue to both ends of the male and female, and forcefully insert some solvent when it is volatilized and the adhesiveness is enhanced. The small diameter can be rotated by 90° to make the glue distribution more uniform, and the medium and large diameters are broken by the iron rod, ensuring a better adhesion effect at the bottom of the insertion socket. It is not recommended to use a glue to connect the pipe at temperatures below 5 °C. 

2. Consider the thermal expansion and contraction of the pipeline during the construction of the looper. The sleeve must have a telescopic gap. When the TS pipe is constructed, in order to alleviate the influence of thermal expansion and contraction of the pipeline, the PVC pipe expansion joint must be installed when the linear piping exceeds 50m.

PE pipe construction precautions:

1. When the ambient temperature is lower than -5 °C or the wind level is greater than grade 5, certain protective measures must be taken for construction.

2. PE pipe welding temperature 220 ± 10 ° C, too high temperature will make the pipe carbonization, resulting in the pipe cannot be connected; when the temperature is too low to reach the fusion point, the pipe connection is not secure; when the ambient temperature is low, the heating temperature can be adjusted appropriately 230 ° C.

3. The endothermic time needs to be calculated when the 1mm crimping end of the pipe end appears. The heating time is the wall thickness × 10 seconds; when the ambient temperature is low, the heating time can be appropriately adjusted to the wall thickness × 12 seconds.

4. The cooling time is the wall thickness × 1 minute. If the cooling is not completed, the PE pipe should not be moved to avoid the pipe from breaking from the weld; the welded joint should be naturally cooled, and the water, wind and dust should be avoided to cause the pipe to be welded.

PPR pipe construction precautions:

1. PPR pipe has low temperature brittleness below 5 °C, so we need to pay special attention to light handling.

2. When cutting the PPR pipe, use a sharp PPR scissors or a rotary cutter to rotate and cut when cutting is better.

3. The PPR pipe and pipe fittings are inserted into the heating mold, and the pipe and the pipe fittings are not allowed to rotate after the heating process, especially in the low temperature environment.

4. The heating temperature of PPR pipe and pipe fittings is 260±10°C. When the ambient temperature is low, the heating temperature can be adjusted to 270°C.V.

Plastic pipes must be paid attention to in the autumn and winter construction, and strict follow-up work should be strictly controlled. All dealers and end users are required to strictly follow the national construction specifications to ensure the smooth completion of the project.
