Calibrator is the necessity of PE pipe machine line

One of the essential links in the PE pipe production line is how to use the sizing device correctly. The PE pipe melt parison leaving the machine head must be cooled and solidified before it can transmit traction and be formed into a PE pipe. In order to make the pipe have the correct geometry, size and perfect surface smoothness, a sizing device should be used.

There are two methods for PE pipe sizing: inner diameter setting and outer diameter setting.
The so-called inner diameter sizing method is that the sizing device controls the inner diameter size and roundness of the PE pipe, so that the melt tube blank is wrapped tightly on the outer surface of the sizing sleeve to cool and harden.

Usually, PE pipe production adopts the segmented shaping process, and the inner diameter shaping is only used in some special cases. The size setting process can generally be divided into two categories: pressure setting and vacuum setting.

Compared with pressure shaping, the vacuum outer diameter shaping has the following advantages:

1. The guiding tube is simple and fast, with less waste;
2. Air flows freely in the PE pipe during vacuum setting; the inner wall of the pipe has a good cooling effect;
3. It can better control the dimensional tolerance;
4. The tube blank is in a plasticized state at the exit of the die with almost no deformation;
5. The internal stress of PE pipe is small;
6. There is no danger of being torn by the screw plug;
7. Will not stop production due to screw plug wear;
8. The head die and the vacuum setting device are separated, because the temperature can be controlled separately.

Calibrator is made of brass, copper-beryllium alloy or aluminum. Although aluminum has good heat transfer performance, it is easily damaged. Some sizing sleeves are made by first making many rings with sheet material or fast material, and then forming a tube, but most calibrators are processed from tubular materials.
