Explaination of PE pipe marking line

People who often use PE pipes for construction know that there are blue, yellow and red color lines on the surface of PE pipes. So what do the different colors mean? In China's pipe market, water supply pipes and gas pipes are two major application markets. PE chemical is called polyethylene in Chinese. Because of its high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non-toxicity, and wear resistance, PE materials are widely used in the field of water supply and drainage manufacturing. Because it will not rust, it is an ideal pipe to replace ordinary iron pipes; according to its usage, the surface of PE pipes is distinguished by different colored marking lines. The following colors represent several uses:


  1. Red marking line: PE mining pipe

     

    HDPE has the highest abrasion resistance among all engineering plastics. The higher the molecular weight, the more wear-resistant the material, even more than many metal materials (such as carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, etc.). Under strong corrosion and high wear conditions, the service life is 4-6 times than steel pipes and 9 times than ordinary polyethylene pipes.

    The flame retardant and antistatic properties are good, and they all meet the standard requirements. The downhole service life is more than 20 years, the economic benefit is remarkable, the impact resistance, abrasion resistance, and the double resistance effect are remarkable.

     

     

  2. Blue marking line: PE water supply pipe, drain pipe, fire pipe

     

    PE sewage pipe: this kind of pipe is often used as municipal engineering pipe, mainly used in sewage treatment industry. Because of its wear resistance, acid resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, etc., it has gradually replaced traditional pipes such as steel pipes and cement pipes in the market.

     

    PE water supply pipe: The water supply pipe must bear a certain pressure, usually a PE resin with large molecular weight and good mechanical properties, such as HDPE resin. LDPE resin has low tensile strength, differential pressure resistance, poor rigidity, poor dimensional stability during molding and difficult connection, and is not suitable as a material for water supply pressure pipes. However, due to its high hygienic index, PE, especially HDPE resin, has become a common material for the production of drinking water pipes. HDPE resin has low melt viscosity, good fluidity and easy processing, so its melt index can be selected in a wide range, usually MI is between 0.3-3g/10min.

     

    PE fire-fighting pipes: fire-fighting pipes are mainly divided into indoor and outdoor two types. Since plastic pipes will deform at high temperatures, PE pipes for fire-fighting are currently mainly used in outdoor fire-fighting pipes. The engineering design is based on the length and pressure of the pipeline. Decide on the choice of PE pipes. Generally, PE pipes do not pay much attention to sanitary indicators for fire protection, mainly in terms of pressure. The acceptance standard is generally 1.5 times the pressure level of the pipe itself.

     

     

  3. Yellow marking line: PE gas pipe

     

    PE pipes for gas use are a replacement product of traditional steel pipes.Gas pipes must bear a certain pressure, usually PE resin with large molecular weight and good mechanical properties is used. LDPE, especially LLDPE resin, has become a common material for gas pipes. LDPE and LLDPE resins have low melt viscosity, good fluidity, and easy processing, so their melt index can be selected in a wide range, usually MI is between 0.3-3g/10min.
