PE Pipe Butt Fusion Welding Jointing Method

PE pipes can be jointed by different ways, Butt Fusion Welding Joint is widely used.

 

The step as below:

 

1.Prepare tools like clamping fixture, milling cutters, heating plates, etc.

 

2.Place two PE pipes on the clamping fixture, adjust the height of the two pipes, make the central of the two pipes at same line. Clamping them and then adjust pipe center through clamping fixture so that two welded pipes are completely centered. Minimize erroneous edge which can improve the welding quality, and prevent the eccentricity from causing weak welding and the bad airtightness. Inferior PE pipes are poor in verticality and surface treatment. Good pipe produced by good PE raw material and PE pipe extrusion line will not has this kind of problem.


3.Put a milling cutter in the middle of the PE pipe, adjust the clamp to make the end face of the pipe close to each other. Use the milling cutter to cut off oxide layer and impurities at end face of the pipe to ensure that the butt face is smooth and without impurities. Good PE pipe produced by quality PE pipe extrusion line will match the quality requirement. After treatment of PE pipe end, make sure pipe end is prevented from being contaminated and damaged. Generally, the welding is performed immediately. Therefore, when during cutting operation, the heating plate can be preheated at the same time.

4.After the PE pipe end face is cleaned , adjust the clamp to create certain distance between end faces of two pipe. Quickly extract the milling cutter, and put the preheated heating plate vertically into the middle of the two pipe. Adjust the clamp so that the end face of the pipe touches closely to the heating plate in order to melt. Note that the heating time of the heating plate is different in winter and summer, and the melting length of the both ends is preferably 1-2 mm.


5.After the end face of the pipe is properly melted, remove heating plate. Make two molten end faces quickly adhered, and make clamp tight. This process should be done under continuous pressure, and the width of the crimping edge is preferably 2-4 mm. In order to ensure the quality of the welding, the operation should be fast.

6.Keep the pressure constant, and wait for the welding interface cool slowly, until welding interface become hard.

After the cooling is completed, the clamping fixture can be released and PE pipe connection is completed. Check connection quality visually. If pipe connection is not qualified, it should be reworked immediately.
